The Mission of Reel Connections for Kids, Inc. shall be to provide opportunities for under-served children ages 8 through 12 to take part in fishing experiences that will connect the participants with fellow anglers while having the guidance of a professional Smith Mountain Lake guide. Through participation in an enjoyable and educational fishing experience, the goal is for children to gain a useful skill, develop a lasting connection with the lake, gain an understanding for the need for conservation and develop an appreciation for the need of safety on the water.
RCK is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization
Beginning as a service project through the Smith Mountain Striper Club, Reel Connections for Kids was born, In early 2022, several members in the club began work on the 1st annual charitable fishing event. With the assistance of Lake Christian Ministries, the club connected 16 under-served children with 8 professional SML fishing charter guides for a day of fishing, fun & fellowship. Through the success of the event, the club made the decision to create a stand alone non-profit organization to better serve the community.
