Reel Connections for Kids began as a service project through the Smith Mountain Striper Club in early 2022, when several club members began work on the first annual charitable fishing event. With the assistance of Lake Christian Ministries, the club connected 16 under-served children with eight professional Smith Mountain Lake guides for a day of fishing, fun & fellowship. Following the success of the inaugural event, the Smith Mountain Striper Club created a standalone nonprofit organization to better serve the community.
